Why Should I Choose BTS?

Body Technic Systems®, Inc. is a unique wellness program constructed to meet the patient’s specific needs by incorporating physical therapy, stress management, exercise training motion analysis, and manual therapies. We include Cranio-sacral therapy, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, and neuromuscular therapy into a rehabilitation, conditioning, and maintenance program that encompasses body and mind.

By using the most advanced technology and equipment, Body Technic Systems®, Inc. offers professional healing and therapy services through physical methods pertaining to mind body systems training. We custom design each Body Technic Systems®, Inc. program to meet the patient’s mental and physical needs through the use of Body-Mind Centering® and physical therapy with a wellness approach.
For many years, physical therapy was thought to be the only way to rehabilitate. Physical therapy is extremely important, but it is only one aspect of the healing process. In today’s world, it is a proven fact that stress is a prime factor in the development of serious illness. Just as stress can cause illness, it can also prevent an injury from healing.

To complete the healing process, the Body Technic Systems®, Inc. physical therapist focuses on the patient’s mental and physical well-being.

What is the difference between Pilates and GYROTONIC®/GYROKINESIS®?

While both formats work toward improving posture and alignment, Pilates exercises work mostly in one plane of motion, while GYROKINESIS® uses circular, spiraling movements through various planes of motion. [More info]

What is the difference between Pilates Machine work and Mat work?

BTS’ philosophy of Pilates work is that no student should begin Machine work without a solid base of knowledge and experience in the Mat work. Pilates machines use resistance, which increases the possibility of injury if exercises are not performed with proper technique. The same is true for most exercise systems/formats – when weight or resistance are added, risk of injury is increased. Proper technique must be achieved before adding difficulty, resistance, or weight in order to practice safely.

Additionally, Mat work allows a greater degree of portability of the exercises. Students with an understanding of Mat work can practice safely at home, in the park, while traveling, or any place where there is sufficient space for movement. BTS does not encourage clients to become dependent upon our machines (or any others).

Machines often do some of the work for the student. Mat work requires that the student exert a greater degree of control within the body and create his/her own resistance from within the body.

Will the classes be too difficult for me? Can I join a class as a beginner?

Our certified, experienced teachers are capable of teaching to multi-level classes safely and effectively. Options, modifications, and progressions are offered so that each student may work at his/her own level. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for working within their own levels and to ask questions whenever necessary. Instructors balance demonstration and verbal cueing with close observation of the class’ execution of the exercises.

What should I wear to class?

You may wear anything comfortable that allows for freedom of movement. Tight or loose clothing – it’s up to you! Please be prepared to remove your shoes (and possibly socks), and remove any unnecessary jewelry prior to class.

How do I file for reimbursement from my insurance company for physical therapy?

Great news! We can submit billing claims to your insurance for you for a small fee. [More info]

Otherwise, you can file on your own by asking for invoices after each of your visits to our clinic. BTS cannot guarantee reimbursement in full or in part, as we are not a member of any insurance provider networks. Check with your insurance provider to determine if you are eligible for reimbursement. We encourage our clients to form their own opinions regarding their medical care and not to allow insurance companies or other financial organizations to dictate their care choices.

Who can benefit from body conditioning classes?

Men and women of all ages can benefit from fitness classes at BTS! In our sedentary culture, doctors are recommending exercise to nearly everyone. Check with your doctor if you have questions about your readiness to begin a fitness program. See our Classes page for a listing of specialized classes.

How do I become a certified instructor?

BTS has a certification program for Pilates instructors and a pre-training program for GYROTONIC®/GYROKINESIS®. Please visit our Certification page for more information.

Why should I choose Body Technic Systems®, Inc. over a gym?

BTS takes a systems approach to wellness, incorporating body and mind elements into classes and addressing the needs of healthy clients as well as clients suffering from injury or pain. This approach allows clients to transition smoothly from physical therapy into body conditioning classes. It also means that we are your one-stop shopping source for fitness needs!

At BTS you will receive personalized attention throughout your training. Small class sizes and private sessions assure that each individual’s unique needs will be met.

Why should I choose Body Technic Systems®, Inc. over another fitness studio?

BTS is the only studio in the Cleveland area with classes taught entirely by certified and experienced instructors. Our comprehensively trained instructors are able to make safe adaptations and variations (including modifications and progressions) while maintaining the integrity of the original formats.

Do I need any prior experience?

Beginner and seasoned athletes alike will find what they need at BTS. No experience is necessary for any of our classes or private sessions unless otherwise noted. Mixed level classes are open to beginners through advanced clients, with each client working at his/her own level.

I would like to enroll in class, but I can’t attend any of the listed times.

BTS is always creating new classes! Please check back frequently for additions. Please E-Mail us with your request for specific days, times, or formats.

Why don’t you offer aerobics at BTS?

All class formats at BTS are low or no-impact, specifically selected for their rehabilitative and injury-preventative qualities. Exercises are safe enough for everyone, yet can be easily adapted to challenge more advanced athletes. Home exercise programs involving an aerobic component can be developed for clients.

Do you offer memberships?

No. BTS is a studio, set up for group classes and private sessions. Clients are supervised throughout their time in the studio.

Do you have treadmills, exercise bikes, or free weights?

No. BTS offers specialized training in unique, specific formats. While some of our classes or private sessions may include the use of weight, resistance, or other equipment, we do not have standard gym equipment. At this time, BTS does not offer classes or private fitness training with cardiovascular components. Instead, we offer those things which local gyms do not.
