Sports Performance Arts Summer Internship Program

A course designed for future athletes, physical therapists, sports medicine specialists, athletic trainers, dancers and students with an avid interest in sports and the movement arts.

The course is offered over a series of scheduled weekends and/or weekdays where participant are given times and dates for the classes and events during which to complete the program. Schedules are to be arranged and set in the weeks to come. Topics will vary per weekend or weekday and may include lectures, demonstrations and practical training in the following areas including but not limited to:

  • Anatomy and Kinesiology
  • Alexander TechniqueTM

  • Aquatic therapy and exercise
  • Sahrmann-Based Exercise Techniques
  • Yoga
  • Tai-Chi
  • Nutrition Guidelines
  • Manual Therapies
  • Laban movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundamentals
  • Kinesiotaping
  • Sports Performance
  • Movement Arts Performance 

 

OBJECTIVES:

Participants will gain knowledge of movement therapies and exercise related systems as applicable to their respective fields.

This course is intended to supplement training in study and interests of students, artists, athletes and therapists, for advanced expertise and professionalism, in the movement arts and sports performance activities.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must have previous training or foundation in the related areas of: movement, fitness, anatomy/kinesiology, and/or related fields. Student dancers, athletes, and fitness instructors are encouraged to apply.

APPLY:

Applications are attached; students must fill out application and pay a $60.00 application fee. After this, students will be contacted to come in for an admissions interview for the SPA program.

SESSION DATES:

SESSION 1:    JUNE 21st – JULY 2nd

SESSION 2:    JULY 12th – JULY 23rd

Sessions consist of 30 total training hours, typically 3 hour sessions per day (Monday – Friday).

CERTIFICATION AND COURSE CREDIT:

Participants that complete two weeks or equivalent of 30 hours of class attendance are eligible to receive a “Certificate of Attendance” with verification of hours. Specific days of the week will be determined with an instructor and course listing/brochure. Check with BTS per additional information and questions in regards to above info.

TUITION AND FEES:

  • Students (up to age 18): $ 750

* A 50% deposit will guarantee enrollment, with the balance due on the first day of class attendance.
